The origins of the Myom

Like most great ideas the Myom came about through a desire to make a change in one self. As a myofascial therapist I was aware that applied pressure and movement can make huge changes in your fascia and soft tissue, but how to do it on yourself?

A lifetime of adventure has it's fair share of accidents and my body was finally telling me to stop. Misalignment through damaged fascia was taking its toll and x-rays showed considerable degeneration and arthritis in my lumbar spine , the diagnosis from the medical profession was that I had to stop having fun in mountains and even though I didn't agree the pain was stopping me. The cherry on top was another motorcycle accident, it was time to do something!

At this point in life I was living and working at Aroha Wellness Retreat in NZ and had been playing around in the wood shop, working on the idea of an adjustable seat to allow you to sit upright with a free moving pelvis. This was the first prototype, made with a a piece of kwila decking, a shard of pine and one brass screw.

Well it turns out that this was the perfect foundation on which to base a design that allows you to take control and become your own myofascial therapist. Combined with two soft compound yoga blocks it becomes the solution to release stuck fascia and restore your body's natural alignment.

Around 3 years, many hours of research and 18 prototypes later we have what is easily the most effective and versatile tool ever invented for self care.  It incorporates the ability to free your fascia and activate/strengthen your muscles, this is for anyone who wants to move pain free with grace and ease!

Free Yourself!
